New NAJ committee formed to keep ‘traditional’ jewellery trade young


The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) is calling on millennials in the jewellery trade to join a steering committee, created to inject youth into the sector.

The NAJ said it anticipated major changes for the “traditional” jewellery industry with millennials accounting for 50% of the global workforce by 2020.

It advised that the changes will need to be met with action to ensure the trade remains an attractive for millennials.

It said: “The National Association of Jewellers has recognised the need for a space where millennials in the industry can get together and show off our generation for what it really is; one which seeks networking opportunities, leadership and challenges.”

Danielle Chib of the NAJ is looking to hear from millennials and will be leading the steering committee.

Millennials (people born between 1980 and 1999) who are interested in joining the committee have been urged to contact Chib.
