New 950sq ft store being opened by Irish retailer Argento.

A South Yorkshire shopping mall has been given a new lease of life with £10 million investment and a new Pandora franchise shop opening.

The Frenchgate shopping centre in Doncaster will complete a footfall expansion programme in Q2 of 2015, with the first stage of a three-part redevelopment plan already underway. According to The Frenchgate Limited, owners of the shopping centre, the opening of a Pandora store later this month has prompted eight other national and local retailers to make a move into the centre.

The new Pandora franchise store opening is being led by Irish retailer Argento, headed up by Pete Boyle.

Boyle said of the opening: "We are extremely excited to announce we will be opening the town’s first Pandora concept store in Frenchgate. Pandora is the UK’s most popular jewellery brand and we are delighted to present this opportunity to the Frenchgate customers.

"Our additional investment into refitting Argento at Frenchgate provides us with an importantchance to increase our brand presence and delivers on our commitment to assist in the revitalisation of the high street."

Argento has taken a lease on 950sq.ft, while other retailers are upgrading or increasing the floor space of their shops, including Vodafone, Clinton Cards, Holland & Barrett and Argento.

The Frenchgate Limited Partnership – owners of the 800,000sq ft shopping centre, said the £10 million investment was a "performance plan” intended to reposition the South Yorkshire centre.
