Designers move toward cool soft shades with a splash of aquamarine.
Pantone LLC has revealed its colour trend report for the SS15 fashion season, suggesting designers will move toward cooler and softer shades with vibrant splashes of aquamarine, tangerine and strawberry ice shades.
The X-rite company and global authority on professional colour standards has pointed to 10 colours that will shape women’s fashion over the next six months, these include; aquamarine, scuba blue, Lucite green, classic blue, toasted almond, strawberry ice, tangerine, custard, marsala and glacier gray.
The Pantone Colour Institute’s executive director Leatrice Eiseman, explains: “Many feel compelled to be connected around the clock because we are afraid we’ll miss something important. There is a growing movement to step out and create ‘quiet zones’ to disconnect from technology and unwind, giving ourselves time to stop and be still.
“Colour choices follow the same minimalistic, ‘en plein air’ theme, taking a cue from nature rather than being reinvented or mechanically manipulated. Soft, cool hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.”
The largely soft and pastel palette is given a boost with vibrant tangerine, coupled with bold classic blue tones and soft neutral hues, like toasted almond. With ‘warmth’ and ‘happiness’ key buzzwords for the SS15 season, custard yellow is expected to make an appearance in high street stores, juxtaposed against the deep wine shade of marsala.
Men’s Colour Palette
For SS15, the men’s palette steers away from its female counterpart with light blue, deep gray and leafy green hues making a big impact.
The top colours for men include; dusk blue, glacier gray, treetop, classic blue, toasted almond, woodbine, sandstone, titanium, marsala and lavender herb.
Masculine and solid, Titanium is a gray that speaks to timelessness and exudes strength, while Marsala offers a robust and rich contrast to the other colours in the palette, according to the report.
