The winner of the Best New Store or Store Refurbishment of the Year award is Mappin & Webb, Kingston.

Retailers in this category have opened a new store, or revamped a current one, in the last 12 months to meet new consumer demands.

The last year has been a difficult time for brick-and-mortar stores but there have been numerous accounts of retailers doubling down on in-store sales by investing big in growth and refurbishment.

The winner carried out an extensive refurbishment project to create a store that pays tribute to its illustrious heritage while at the same time featuring a whole raft of contemporary features.

The rest of the nominees in this category were:

Goldsmiths, Canterbury

Laings, Cardiff

Lucy Quartermaine, Chester

Mappin & Webb, Kingston

MD Jewellers, Grantham

Mill & Way, Twickenham
