The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Awards is Ashley Carson, Assay Master of the Sheffield Assay Office.

Mr Carson truly lives and breathes the industry. He is a man who from the age of 17 has dedicated his entire working life to one organisation.

He worked his way up the ranks to guide the business in question through some significant milestones.

As a student of silversmithing, he gained an intricate understanding of the craft from a young age and this was to serve him in good stead as he set out on his chosen career path.

Under his leadership, the organisation that he manages has undergone significant change, grown its reputation for the services it provides and expanded the disciplines that it specialises in.

He is also an advocate for promoting opportunities for young people to join the sector and inspiring the next generation of jewellery professionals.

This year’s winner of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award will tell you that he attributes his success to three things: a desire to be of service to the consumer; a desire to be of service to the precious metal and jewellery trades; and a desire to be of service to his home city.

He has given 41 tremendous years of service to his organisation – holding the distinction of being the youngest-ever Assay Master when he was appointed, to its longest-serving today.
