PJ TALKS: Fellows Auctioneers finds success in lockdown with bidding boom

As part of our ongoing video series, PJ Talks, we speak with Fellows Auctioneers managing director, Stephen Whittaker, about the company’s struggles and successes during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to PJ’s editor-in-chief Rob Corder, Mr Whittaker describes how his team of 60 managed to organise online auctions while working remotely from their homes, and often went beyond the call of duty to ensure customers received the pieces they won.

Although the economic damage caused by the pandemic is certain to have an impact on demand for new luxury jewellery and watches this year, it appears that demand for pre-owned and vintage has risen during lock down, with a number of world record prices being set.
