Company says need for simplicity is reaction to branded jewellery.
IBB London has noted a rising demand for classic gold jewellery such as ball studs and plain gold chains, something it believes is a reaction to the increasing number of jewellery brands in the marketplace.
The Hatton Garden-based jewellery manufacturer said that a growing number of retailers are approaching it for classic 9ct and 18ct yellow and white gold jewellery to fill the gaps that are missed by branded jewellery.
IBB London’s Nick Kovacs told Professional Jeweller: “More and more retailers have been on the lookout for plain unbranded gold jewellery such as ball and knot studs, Russian wedding bands and plain gold chains.
“We’ve also noticed a rise in tri-colour and rose gold jewellery as retailers look for something other than branded jewellery that they can sell as their own.”
IBB London showcased its classic gold collections – which also included a range of 9ct gold jewellery set with cubic zirconia and plain gold chain bracelets – at The Jewellery Show this week.
Kovacs added that consumers may be fuelling this demand as they shop for jewellery that be worn on the long term or handed down.
