MD Karl Massey praises group’s vision for independent retailers.
Independent retail jeweller Prestons of Bolton has joined buying group The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ).
Prestons of Bolton managing director Karl Massey said that his decision to join the group was influenced by the CMJ’s “vision for the independent retailer and their commerciality”.
Massey added: “I’ve known Willie Hamilton and Helen Dimmick at The Company of Master Jewellers for a year or so now and have been really impressed by their vision for the independent retailer and their commerciality. I’m sure there’s plenty for us to learn through interacting with the membership as well as the benefits of being within a buying group.”
The CMJ, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has 127 members, representing 215 stores in the UK.
CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton said: “I’m delighted to have attracted such a high-profile retailer such as Prestons of Bolton to the Company of Master Jewellers. We are experiencing record growth during a difficult economic time and have record numbers of applications for new members, including some of the most prestigious and forward-thinking retail jewellers in the UK. We look forward to working with Karl, Andrew Whittingham and the team and learning from their highly successful business model at Prestons of Bolton.”
