Martin Vazquez joins the magazine as sales manager.

Martin Vazquez has joined the team at Professional Jeweller & WatchPro as sales manager.

Vazquez will be based in Professional Jeweller’s offices in Hatton Garden, London, and will look after existing clients as well as sourcing new commercial opportunities for the magazines. He will work closely with commercial manager Terri Woodhams and with the editorial team.

Vazquez has been working in B2B publishing for five years but has a family connection with the jewellery industry.

His great-grandfather Leon Auguste Pageot was a freelance jeweller in the early 1900s creating high jewellery for houses such as Cartier, as well as famously designing the royal cipher for King George V that can still be seen on some older British post boxes today and the badge for the Royal Flying Corps. A book of his work is currently on display at the V&A Museum in London.

Vazquez said: “The jewellery industry is in my blood so when the job came up at Professional Jeweller it seemed like a calling. I hope I can bring a sense of creativity and enthusiasm to the team.”

Professional Jeweller editor-in-chief Rachael Taylor said: “We are delighted to welcome Martin to the team. He has a real ingrained passion for the industry thanks to his family history and I know he will use this to take the magazine to new heights.

“I would also like to congratulate our assistant editor Kathryn Bishop on joining the team on a full-time basis as of this week. Kathryn, who joined the team part time in January, has proved to be a real asset to the editorial team and has a great attitude and a real in-depth knowledge of the industry having worked in the trade for eight years before joining the magazine. I couldn’t have asked for a more competent and talented assistant editor.”
