Entries are now open for the annual Professional Jeweller competition for up-and-coming jewellery designers to win space at London Jewellery Week selling show Treasure in June, and Professional Jeweller has teamed up with leading contemporary jewellery retailer Charles Fish as a partner for this year’s competition.
This is the third year that the magazine will run the competition, which offers new jewellery designers the opportunity to exhibit during London Jewellery Week for free, and also gives the shortlist the chance of huge exposure to both consumers and the trade thanks to the enormous reach of professionaljeweller.com – last year the competition attracted 21,690 votes and an average of 4,000 visitors to the website each day during the voting.
Professional Jeweller editor-in-chief Rachael Taylor said: “I am delighted to announce the return of the Treasure competition, which we are this year running in partnership with the fantastic Charles Fish, a real champion of contemporary jewellery design itself. This will be the third year that we have run this competition and as previous winners will attest to, it really is a chance for jewellery designers to take their career to the next level through the exposure in our magazine, getting in front of prestigious retail buyers such as Samantha Hansard at Charles Fish and the ability to sell direct to the public for free at Treasure.”
The competition is open to jewellery designers who have been in business for three years or less. All entries will be put to a panel of judges that will include the editorial team at Professional Jeweller, Charles Fish director Samantha Hansard, Della Tinsley of London Jewellery Week, Julie Driscoll of The Jewellery Show London and a selection of contemporary jewellery retail buyers, to be announced soon.
The judging panel will whittle down the entries to a shortlist of 10 designers who will then be put to the public vote on professionaljeweller.com. The three designers with the most votes will be awarded a free cabinet at Treasure during London Jewellery Week.
The Professional Jeweller competition in association with Charles Fish has been strengthened this year thanks to a new dimension to the prize provided by The Jewellery Show London, a trade-only event run alongside Treasure by the organisers of The Jewellery Show at Spring Fair in Birmingham. The show will be offering an additional cabinet to one of the three competition winners in its trade-only section of the show and will also feature that designer’s work in one of its catwalk shows at The Jewellery Show London.
The winner of this extra prize will be decided by the panel of judges who will evaluate the designers and vote for which one they believe has the most commercial potential, and so would benefit the most from appearing in front of retail buyers at The Jewellery Show London.

To enter the competition designers must have been in business for three years or less and should send three images of their work, a photograph of themselves and a supporting document that provides a short biography and descriptions of the three pieces that they have submitted images of to email@example.com by 4pm on Friday 14th October.
