Jewellery’s biggest night of the year is heading to Freemasons’ Hall.
The 2012 Professional Jeweller Hot 100 will take place on September 4th at the spectacular Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden, home to the United Grand Lodge of England.
The historic building in London’s Great Queen Street took six years to build, from 1927-32, and is considered the finest example of Art Deco architecture in London. It was built as a memorial to the Freemasons who died in the First World War and is now Grade II listed internally and externally.
The choice of venue for the Hot 100 is an exhaustive process as the party looks to delight the jewellery industry’s A-list guests who attend the annual event. “We feel a huge sense of responsibility to find a location that creates a sense of expectation, and then exceeds that expectation when people arrive,” explains Rachael Taylor, editor-in-chief of Professional Jeweller.
Freemasons’ Hall rises from the street with imposing proportions, presenting a sense of power and authority that evoke thoughts of bank vaults bulging with precious metals and jewels.
The Art Deco interior transports you immediately back to the 1920s and 30s, a theme that the Hot 100 will pick up on with its choice of entertainment and styling. “We love the influence of this period on today’s fashion and culture, and think everybody will love channelling their inner Great Gatsby and dusting down their Charleston moves on the dance floor,” suggests Taylor.
Freemasons’ Hall is no stranger to leading fashion stars, having hosted events for several years during London Fashion Weeks including the Lancôme Design Awards, a Biba fashion show, and a Julian MacDonald catwalk.
It has also been used as a set for several film and television period dramas such as Poirot and Jeeves and Wooster; plus premiere parties for blockbusters including King Kong and Spiderman 3.
The Hot 100’s nomination process closes on Monday, May 28, with this year’s list being compiled by the PJ team the following week.
Our award-winning photography team arrives to start creating the stunning picture profiles that make up the Hot 100 in early June, and will be travelling the country for six weeks to complete the assignment.
“The reveal of the Hot 100 is such a keenly anticipated moment for the jewellery industry because of the talent, creativity and sheer hard work that we highlight in the book’s beautiful pictorial profiles. I think that guests who are lucky enough to attend this years’ party will be blown away,” promises Taylor.
The Hot 100 is a strictly invitation-only event, with guests selected by the editors of Professional Jeweller, our Principal Partner, The Company of Master Jewellers, and our Gold Partners, which include UK Jewellery Awards Brand of the Year, Ti Sento.
