Perusing the halls of Baselworld, amongst the immense scope and variety of jewellery on display, it was clear that certain elements were appearing again and again. Although many brands have very distinct identities and styles, the industry on the whole appears to be on the same page when it comes to surfacing trends.
Professional Jeweller has compiled a top three of our favourite trends spotted so far at Baselworld 2016.

Pantone trend colours
Colour and Pantone go hand-in-hand in any industry that encompasses style and design, and this year’s show demonstrated a great attention to Pantone’s colours of the year: Rose quartz and Serenity.
Bold blue/ navy
Although navy blue started to peek through at last year’s show, mainly in watches, this year it has burst into jewellery as a versatile gemstone compatible with all precious metals and many other gem colourways.

Chopard

Swarovski

Sutra Jewels
Galaxy/ celestial/ moon and stars
Whereas in previous years inspiration has usually stemmed from themes relating to nature and life existing within planet earth, this year has seen the focus shift to galaxies far, far away, with the implementation of iridescent colouring and rainbow effects.
