Re-launched Solar Designs becomes CMJ approved supplier

Bangle with rose

Solar Designs has become an approved supplier for the Company of Master Jewellers just two years after the company was resurrected by two of its original employees, Terry Lester and Neil Smith.

Both men had four decades worth of experience with original company Solar which closed in 2006, before pooling their resources and rebranding the company as Solar Designs in 2013.
The duo are using the original Solar bangle machine to create hollow oval and slave bangles in 9ct gold and silver for a new generation of customers. Cross and St Christopher designs have also been added to the collection, while traditional locket supplier Pale Black has also been taken under the Solar Designs umbrella.
According to the Master Jewellers website Terry Lester joined Solar in 1977 where he designed and made the tooling for the gate bracelet ranges. Smith later joined as Lester’s apprentice and together they designed and built bangle-making machines.
