Resurgent retailers dominate the 2015 Professional Jeweller Hot 100

The surging power of retailers has prompted a dramatic increase in the number of independent and multiple jewellers making it into this year’s Professional Jeweller Hot 100 list.

For the first time, over half of the Hot 100 are from the retail sector, with many more providing services to these businesses.

The guest list to the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 party is also heavily weighted in favour of retailers, with around 400 invited by Professional Jeweller and its sponsors: Diamond Partner IJL, Gold Partners Clogau Gold, Curteis and Facets PR, and Technology Partner Bransom Retail Systems.

“This will be the biggest gathering of independent jewellers, etailers, major multiples, TV retailers and department stores ever seen in the UK,” promises Professional Jeweller Hot 100 event director Andrew Martyniuk. “No other event comes close to representing the breadth and power of jewellery retailers in this country today.”

In addition to the retailers, there are several brands in the Hot 100 that are now in the business of retail, either through their own stores, or via franchise agreements. “The retail landscape for jewellery has changed dramatically over the past five years, and this year’s Professional Jeweller Hot 100 reflects this,” explains Professional Jeweller editor Sarah Jordan.

“Family-owned companies are creating regional empires thanks to successful chains of franchise stores that feed profits back into independent boutiques. These boutiques, often carrying the family name, are the jewels in the crown offering carefully curated mixes of brands and precious jewellery.

“We have seen the rising market share of omni-channel retailers operating across stores, etail and even television.

“We have witnessed the major multiples transform their boutiques into glittering brand emporiums where personal service is turned into a money-making art form,” Jordan suggests.

“This is the complex and highly sophisticated market with which all major brands must work, and why this year’s Professional Jeweller Hot 100 is such a vital and valuable opportunity to meet them and celebrate their success,” Martyniuk says.

The Professional Jeweller Hot 100 will be revealed at a stunning party for over 700 VIP guests on September 7, the second night of IJL, at Freemasons’ Hall in London’s Covent Garden.
