While most stores across the retail sector close on Christmas Day (25 December), it is common for Boxing Day sales, as the name would suggest, to begin on 26 December.

In recognition of his staff’s dedication and hard work, managing director Peter Jackson closed all four of his business’s stores for both 26 and 27 December, meaning three consecutive days off for staff.

The jeweller, mainly based in the Lancashire area, has stores in Blackburn, Bury, Carlisle and Preston.

The MD commented: “I have always taken the view that after a hectic run-up to Christmas, one day off is not enough and our shops should close on Boxing
Day even though most around us choose to open.

“I am so fortunate to be surrounded by such a loyal and committed team. This year it feels like our managers have been juggling glass balls every day and without dropping any of them.”

Jackson was keen to note that the stores reopened on 28 December with the post-Christmas sale in full flow.
