Alongside her work with her family business, Gemma Murphy has branched out into roles like board member for the Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade and also with the Company of Master Jewellers.

It is her work with Jack Murphy Jewellers since 2009, however, that has earned her a place in this year’s Power List.

Since becoming partner at the company pre-pandemic she has now taken the reins from her parents and in the process taken it to new heights.

Jack Murphy Jewellers’ social media following has surpassed 45,000 while Gemma also spearheaded a refurbishment and expansion of its showroom during the pandemic.

Despite numerous closures due to Covid-19, the business has achieved a 79.4% increase in total sales in 2021 versus 2019.

This was a result of reactive marketing and adapting the business to the climate at the time, building a new e-commerce website, offering virtual appointments and utilising social media to ensure an ongoing and open line of communication with customers.
