With three days to go, jewellery retailers are upping the offer.
With just three days to go, several London jewellery retailers have announced special offers or discounts to attract Valentine’s shoppers.
Kabiri – which has stores in Covent Garden, Marylebone and a concession in Selfridges – is offering free next-day and international delivery for all items bought online until Monday 14, while Dower & Hall is offering a buy-one-get-one-half price across all of its collections.
Independent retailer EC One is taking 15% off jewellery purchased in-store or online. Speaking of the decision to offer discount close to Valentine’s day, EC One’s founder and goldsmith Jos Skeates said: "The offer only goes out to our loyal customer database, who we emailed earlier this week. This kind of offer keeps our customers loyal and they look forward to these little offers."
Dinny Hall is offering 10% discount on her 18ct white and yellow gold Bijou Heart pavé set pendants. Hall said: "The offer is only in-store as we can’t do it online due to the deadline." However all five of Hall’s outlets will have the offer available until stores close on Monday 14.
"Monday is an odd day for Valentine’s", said Hall, "So we’re expecting a rush this weekend, most probably Sunday. It’s funny, we have looked back on the past few years and our Valentine’s peak is always the day before."
City of London boutique Little 15 has chosen not to run a Valentine’s offer, noting that the day can be unpredictable in terms of sales. Owner and founder Jutta Pfannkuch explained: "Sometimes I do offers or competitions and they’re not that great. Offering discount can be hit and miss."
Taking note of January’s VAT rise, Pfannkuch added "Though free postage generally helps, my order costs are going up. I haven’t put my prices up with the VAT increase, so I have to charge for postage right now." Pfrannkuch did say, however, that she is considering an offer after Valentine’s day: "I was thinking today, maybe I will do a one or two day discount offer next week for those who didn’t get a present and instead want to treat themselves to a little something."
