RJC releases Annual Progress Report 2016


The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has released its Annual Progress Report for 2016, following its recent AGM at JCK Las Vegas.

The report reflects the RJC’s 2015 achievements and demonstrates its continuing work across membership growth, certification benchmarks, standards development and auditor engagement.

It reveals the top 10 countries where businesses in the jewellery supply chain have already committed to responsible business practices. Leading the way is the United States, with 3,399 businesses on board, followed by the United Kingdom with 1,769. China, Japan, India, France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Italy and Belgium make up the third to tenth positions respectively.

The report states that in 2015, there was a 36 per cent increase in RJC Code of Practices certificates issued compared to the year before. There was also a 100 per cent increase in RJC Chain-of-Custody Certifications issued in 2015.

RJC Certification covers more than 7,000 facilities and 340,000 employees in 65 countries. The full report can be found here.
