Retailer sees former Miss World model at launch party for exhibition.
Scottish jewellery retailer Rox is this week playing host to the Platinum Guild International’s (PGI) travelling exhibition, with a special launch night held with former Miss Scotland Nieve Jennings.
Rox’s flagship Argyll Arcade store hosted the event on Tuesday night, with Jennings modelling a £100,000 platinum-woven dress designed by Italian couturier Domo Adami. The dress had been carefully crafted with microscopic threads of platinum, with the result described as a "showstopping piece." Nieve accessorised the platinum dress with pjewellery from the collection – the Aqua necklace by Orlando Orlandini.
The dress will be on show at Rox until Tuesday April 12, as part of the annual Platinum Guild International UK exhibition, which showcases the work of some of the UK’s most talented up and coming jewellery designers.
The Platinum Design Innocation Awards and The PGI host an annual platinum design competition sponsored by Lonmin, and supported by IJL and PGI. This year’s judges included Stephen Webster and Shaun Leane, who selected eight winners whose creations are now on tour around the UK to promote their work. Rox is the exclusive Scottish partner for the event.
Kyron Keogh, co-owner ROX jewellers said: "We believe in supporting the UK’s most talented up-and-coming jewellery designers and we are delighted to be the only Scottish jeweller hosting this year’s Platinum Guild International UK exhibition. The exhibition will be running within the thrill room our flagship Argyll Arcade store in Glasgow and we hope that members of the public will pop in to have a look around the exhibitions."
Describing the dress and jewellery that she modelled, Jennings, a former Miss World contestant, said: "Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and like every girl I love to dress up and feel glamorous. The platinum dress and necklace are absolutely stunning and it’s definitely worth coming down to Rox to see them."
Ruth Donaldson, UK manager of the Platinum Guild International added: "PGI UK is pleased to sponsor an exhibition of this year’s Lonmin Platinum Design Innovation Award winning pieces. This competition takes place every year to encourage both established designers and up and coming designers to create stunning jewellery in the noblest and purest of metals – platinum. 2011 is the first time PGI has sponsored a touring exhibition of the winning designs and we are delighted that Rox agreed to host this exhibition in Scotland."
