J&WL closes its doors on third buying event in the capital.

The third edition of Jewellery & Watch London drew to a close on June 19, following a two day showcase inside the Saatchi Gallery.

A number of brands told Professional Jeweller that the second day of the event was quieter following a lively first day, however many of the show’s first-time exhibitors reported positively on the experience. Angelina Goranova of International Wholesale, who presented Uno de 50 at the show, said: “Having already gained strong recognition in Spain and the US, we thought Jewellery & Watch London would be a great platform for gaining interest in the UK market. We’ve already made many strong industry links and will definitely be looking to exhibit next year.”

Also exhibiting for the first time were Ingenious Jewellery, founded in 2008 by Emma Gee in a bid to fill the gap for stylish ‘faux fine’ jewellery in the European market.

Gee commented: “We’ve had an amazing response to the Autumn/Winter collection launched here at the show and have received great feedback on the variety and ingenuity of our products."

Director of online jewellery website Kinnari, Sally Bowers, commented: “It’s my first time visiting Jewellery & Watch London; I’ve been in the retail industry for 8 years and this show provides an inspirational and informative environment for buyers.”

In addition to the brands on display, Jewellery & Watch London hosted a varied line-up of speakers for its seminar programme, consisting of eight sessions a day across both days of the show.

Designed to enhance the buying experience, the seminars included panel discussions, presentations and interactive Q&A sessions on everything from building a business to ecommerce, trend forecasts and market analyses.

For example, Bec Astley Clarke MBE provided an informative conversation on multichannel luxury brands and how best to combine online and offline services; while global luxury goods expert Fflur Roberts delivered a global luxury goods market analysis, highlighting areas of growth and opportunity in the jewellery and watch market.
