Technology reaches Egypt as company works to make purchases easier.
Signet Group has launched iPhone apps for Ernest Jones and H Samuel ahead of Christmas, the “latest in a string of technological advances” from the high street retailers designed to make shopping easier for consumers.
Signet is also promoting the retailers’ Twitter feeds and Facebook pages and says the new developments have been popular with its staff and customers alike.
Shoppers can use the apps for research, gift or shopping inspiration, to find out more about products and to purchase. The retailers have also used the apps in-store as a training tool for staff and for reference if customers enquire about an item seen while using it.
Julien Shirley, Signet’s head of multichannel said: “We are delighted to be able to use technology to create an even more enhanced experience for our customers. Our new iPhone apps mean they can now take our brands with them wherever they are.”
To date the Ernest Jones and H Samuel apps have proved most popular in London and Birmingham, followed by Leeds and Cardiff. Outside of the UK customers in the US, India and Egypt have downloaded the program to their smartphones.
As part of the retailers’ technological growth Signet has also launched live webchat assistance for online shoppers, which Shirley says show their commitment to working with a shopper from browsing to checkout.
“Jewellery is an involved and emotional purchase, requiring real expert advice. We want our customers to be further reassured that we are with them every step of the process, whichever channel they choose to make their purchase,” he explained.
