Lockdown might have put the brakes on the jewellery industry over recent months, but that hasn’t stopped Stephen Webster from getting stuck into exciting new initiatives.
The leading jeweller designer revealed he has been occupied planning a new concept in the US.
“There are very few positive coronavirus jewellery success stories I can report on – the steep rise in online sales being one exception. However, we have been very busy during lockdown designing, from the concrete floor up, an entire bar in Nashville. ‘Diamond Dogs’ as we are calling it is a rendezvous for all things Webster.”
Mr Webster, whose jewellery is sold in more than 25 US states, said the commission came as a result of its wildly successful touring pop-up, the ‘No Regrets Lounge’, its spiritual ‘home away from home’, or in the case of lockdown his actual kitchen in Kent.
“Diamond Dogs will be a proper working speakeasy,” he explained. “All barware from the Stephen Webster Homeware collection, including glasses, pourers and shakers will be used and available to purchase.
“Set into the bar counter and tables will be showcases of our men’s and unisex jewellery. We cannot wait until we can once again get socially close with the folks of Nashville, enjoying martinis and not ‘quarantinis’ at our own place of worship.”
He added: “These days we have been forced to think out of the box – the retailer we have partnered with has been in the industry as long as I have and equally shares a hatred of boxes.”
