For the first time since the Professional Jeweller Collections of the Year initiative began, a panel of expert buyers from the UK jewellery industry will help the editorial team shortlist the nominations.

Nominations for Collections of the Year closed on Friday, and the editorial team at Professional Jeweller will make an initial edit, whittling down the record number of entries to just the 10 strongest entries per category. These will then be presented to a panel of buyers that represent a wide scope of retail businesses.

Joining the inaugural panel will be Swag buyer Adam Gillary, Argos jewellery buyer Stephanie Wilkes, QVC director of buying jewellery and fashion accessories Joanna Mansbridge, EC One owner and buyer Jos Skeates, freelance specialist jewellery editor Rachael Taylor and Professional Jeweller assistant editor Stacey Hailes.

Each judge will be asked to score the entries, with a final tally determining the shortlist. This shortlist will then be put to the public vote on to allow the industry to determine the overall winner in each category.

The categories in this year’s edition of Collections of the Year are: Luxury Jewellery, Engagement Rings, Wedding Bands, Men’s Jewellery, Silver Jewellery, Fashion Jewellery, Pearl Jewellery, Charms and Beads, Emerging Designer and Ethical Jewellery.

The public vote will take place next week with the winners announced in the December 2015 issue of Professional Jeweller magazine.
