Breaking US seminar to be held; host of brands make European debut.
IJL is set to welcome a host of US designers and brands at this year’s show, with a special Breaking into the US seminar also lined up for British brands looking to expand overseas.
This year’s trade show takes place from September 1 to 4 at Earls Court in London. It will host its first US jewellery trail in reaction to North America becoming a dominant market for luxury goods, bridal jewellery and design-led fine brands.
The US Design Trail has been organised in partnership with IJL’s sister show JCK, held in Las Vegas. The trail will feature fresh American jewellery talent and cutting-edge collections of silver and fine jewellery.
US brand Christopher Designs will host a stand on the Boulevard of this show with a patented diamond cut that will launch in the UK market at IJL. The brand will complemented by fellow jewellery company M.I.D House of Diamonds.
A set of US brands can also be found within the designer section of IJL, including Danhov, which will showcase handmade and hand-assembled collections.
Danhov’s national sales director Shant Hovsepian said: "We’re excited to enhance Danhov’s presence at this year’s IJL. As the premier jewellery show in the UK, this is a great opportunity for us to introduce Danhov and our unique, handmade engagement rings and wedding bands to many international retailers."
Other US jewellery including La Corza by Sabo Designs, the Heskia Brothers and unique Oriental Gemco will showcase organic style fine jewellery, with collections that have been showcased at JCK and featured in Vogue.
Fine brand Meira T is also seeking to extend its reach in the UK. Its vice-president of sale Brigitte Tugendhaft said: "We have a large Meira T following, but our presence is heavily concentrated in London. The Meira T brand can be found in high end department stores as well as luxury jewellery stores.
"However, in the US the Meira T brand can be found in big and small towns alike which is what we hope to achieve in the UK. Our product is beautiful, feminine, trendy but also affordable and can be appreciated by everyone”.
Sholdt Design is also set to launch in the UK with its bridal jewellery collections. Its sales executive Kalee Sholdt said that the brand’s appearance at IJL also marks its European debut. "As a fourth-generation jewellery company, our line has grown to become a staple in the American scene for design-driven, sleekly lined bridal jewellery. We are looking forward to meeting a market that is yearning for designs that are simple and fresh."
Oriental Gemco will launch its new Pavone collection in the UK and will also launch The Orient, its first ever silver brand, at IJL.
The trade show will also host a seminar called Breaking into the US – Practical advice on entering the American marketplace, chaired by Gail Sackloff OBE, one of the UK’s leading export luxury retail consultants.
Her panellists for the seminar will include Erickson Beamon co-founder Vicki Sarge, now creative director of VICKISARGE, London-based jewellery Tomasz Donocik, who recently reported success in the US, and the founder of US brand development agency Lividini, Jaqui Lividini, who is flying in from New York especially for the event.
The panellists are set to discuss their own experiences with expert views on US retailing and brand development and marketing, as well as entering the US for the first time as a designer.
IJL 2013 will also feature a Hong Kong Pavilion and a new Danish Pavilion.
