SGS, an inspection, verification, testing and certification company, has become the first official licensee of the AnchorCert Pro product.

AnchorCert Pro is a test for metals that may cause allergic contact dermatitis and other allergies.

It allows jewellers to certify that their product will not cause allergic reactions in wearers.

It was developed by a research and development team at the company’s lab in the Birmingham Assay Office.

Until now, manufacturers of retailers and brands using AnchorCert Pro have had to send items for testing to the AnchorCert Analytical Laboratory in Birmingham.

However, as Rebecca Ray, AnchorCert Pro brand manager, explained: “It is very much part of our long-term strategy to focus on our R & D expertise so, in order to meet the increasing AnchorCert Pro testing requirements of both retailers and brands, we have developed a software application which can be used by Laboratories around the world accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.”

Shooin Chang, Hardlines director, SGS China, commented: “SGS is delighted to be working with AnchorCert Analytical, part of the Birmingham Assay Office, and to be accredited to the AnchorCert Pro Standard.

“This exciting new partnership will allow our brand and retail clients to ensure an even higher level of consumer product safety and quality assurance within their jewellery products scope.”

Rebecca Ray, added: “Compliance with AnchorCert Pro offers brands and retailers alike a number of benefits including increased sales, reduced returns and increased customer loyalty so it’s little surprise that there has been such phenomenal interest.”
