Rural life set as theme for competition with the Great Yorkshire Show.
Whitby jet jewellery brand W Hamond has launched a design competition, calling for designer to submit charm designs based on the theme of rural life.
The competition has been launched in partnership with the Great Yorkshire Show, one of England’s leading agricultural events. Designers are being asked to submit their ideas for a charm to be made from silver and Whitby jet, with the winning piece put into production to be sold through W Hamond.
Two years ago, the jewellery company launched an official Great Yorkshire Show jewellery collection, featuring three charms – a rosette, a tractor and a Yorkshire rose.
The show’s director Bill Cowling said: “The Great Yorkshire Show appeals to so many different interests but this is something new and exciting for us. It is an amazing opportunity to see an idea through from concept to production and create something beautiful and iconic which potentially could last for generations.”
The competition will be split into two categories – for 18 years and under, and for over 19 years – and both will have a winner. The winners will also receive tickets for this year’s Great Yorkshire Show and a tour the W Hamond workshop.
Those wishing to enter should submit their designs to W Hamond by 4pm on Friday March 28.
