Retailer and supplier presented with Lalique trophies at UKJC 2014.

The Company of Master Jewellers presented supplier and retailer awards at the UK Jewellery Conference dinner last night, held at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.

The two awards for Supplier of the Year and Retailer of the Year were presented by UK Jewellery Conference host Bill Turnbull, who took to the stage with two Lalique trophies.

The winner of Supplier of the Year 2014, as voted for by CMJ retail members, was Brown & Newirth.

The bridal business, specialising in wedding and engagement rings, beat finalists Fred Ullmann, Gecko, Hot Diamonds and Pandora, and was praised for its exceptional service.

Turnbull said: "The winner was praised for its exceptional service, with one member simply saying ‘they do everything right’. Another member described them as ‘a great company to deal with – the customer service and quality of their products are both excellent’."

The Retailer of the Year 2014, also voted for by CMJ approved suppliers, was revealed as Wakefields Jewellers in Horsham.

One supplier described Wakefields as “a passionate and forward-thinking watch and jewellery retailer who are a real pleasure to do business with”, with the retailer praised for its friendly staff and well-organised store.

The Wakefields shop has been described as "a modern, bright, luxurious store without relinquishing any of the values of a traditional family business".

The business, run by brother and sister team Melanie and Dominic Wakefield, beat competition from fellow retailers TH Baker, Drakes, Forum, and Jeremy France.
