Watches of Switzerland Group has inked a new 10-year deal with Manchester’s Trafford Centre as it eyes a new store in the shopping centre.

The flagship store is expected to open summer 2021 and will house both a Goldsmiths and a Tag Heuer boutique.

This will see the relocation of the current Trafford Centre Goldsmiths to the building’s ‘main dome’ on the upper level.

The building plays home to over 280 brands and offers 10,000 jobs to the area.

Watches of Switzerland Group reported a near-60% share value increase at the end of 2020 and is hoping to continue that trend as the country emerges from its latest lockdown.

It revealed its expectations that this will translate into high footfall at the new Manchester site.

Craig Bolton, executive director for Watches of Switzerland Group, commented: “We are delighted to sign a new lease with The Trafford Centre. We have been present in the centre for a number of years and we are delighted to be opening a new Goldsmiths store, a TAG Heuer boutique and also significant space for Tudor as well as our jewellery brands.

“We look forward to opening our new store and continuing our partnership with The Trafford Centre.”

Announcing the new deal, Nick Williams, senior director – CBRE, Trafford Centre asset manager, said: “Goldsmiths is a long-term and much-valued retailer at the Trafford Centre and the signing of a new 10-year lease for a larger store, as well as the addition of the TAG Heuer boutique, highlights the anticipated demand for such luxury goods after the challenges of the last few months, in the same way we experienced in 2020.

“The Trafford Centre is an established destination for customers that seek high-end, luxury brands so we know that expanding our relationship with Watches of Switzerland will be well-received.”
