A 21-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested nearby at about 4.30am. He is in custody and due to be questioned.

Shortly before the burglary a number of fires, in the area of the Cockpit and Bradshaw Way, were reported to the emergency services. Enquiries are continuing into the fires and the burglary to see if they are linked.

Investigations at the scene are complete but officers are in the process of checking CCTV in the area.

Police said they wanted to hear from anyone who was in Derby between 2am and 5am yesterday morning and saw any suspicious activity around Intu Derby, Bass’s Recreation Ground, Station Approach or Pride Park.
