Polka dot range of jewels and fashion to hit shops in July.

Japanese artist Yoyoi Kusama is set to design a jewellery collection for luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton.

The collection is due to be unveiled on July 10 and will no doubt feature polka dots, a design theme that has dominated the work of the 82-year-old artist.

Kusama’s jewellery designs for Louis Vuitton will be part of a wider fashion range created for the brand.

This is not the first time that Kusama, who currently has an exhibition on at the Tate Modern in London, has teamed up with a luxury brand. In 2009 the artist partnered with car manufacturer Audi to cover one of its showrooms – and one of its top-of-the-range cars – with red polka dots.

Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs has described the artist as an energetic force and said he believes that both Kusama’s polka dots and Louis Vuitton’s LV monogram are timeless design motifs, making the collaboration a perfect match.
