The future of Thornrose Limited – the trading name of Shaun Leane – has been plunged into doubt after the business confirmed that administrators have taken over its affairs.

Documents filed on Companies House yesterday show the registered address of the company, which is owned by the renowned British jeweller, has changed to the London office of corporate recovery specialist Begbies Traynor.

Shaun Leane’s website remains active, but a statement at the foot of its homepage reads: “The affairs, business and property of Thornrose Limited are being managed by Paul Appleton, Adam Shama and Robert Ferne appointed as Joint Administrators on 28 May 2024.

“The Joint Administrators act as agents of the company and without personal liability. Paul Appleton and Adam Shama are authorised by the ICAEW to act as insolvency practitioners. Robert Ferne is authorised by the IPA to act as an insolvency practitioner.”

No further details have been released and it appears that orders can still be placed via the website.

Shaun Leane is recognised for redefining the standard of British jewellery design over the past two decades.

His jewellery house was born at the bench in London’s Hatton Garden jewellery quarter, where he trained in a traditional apprenticeship from the age of fifteen, learning diamond mounting and antique restoration in an environment where skill was paramount.

This classical, technical education has served as the foundation for his jewellery designs and the growth of his business over the past 20 years.

Mr Leane has a longstanding partnership with Lee Alexander McQueen and collaborated with the likes of Daphne Guinness, Nick Knight, Boucheron and Damien Hirst.

He also found fame on television as one of the judges on BBC show All That Glitters.

Begbies Traynor have been contacted for comment on the situation.
