Family-run Crown Jewellers will be expanding into Peterborough city centre later this month.
The jeweller, which already has a branch in Bourne, will be taking over the unit previously occupied by Charles Bright Jewellers in the city’s St John’s Square.
Talking to Peterborough Telegraph, Crown Jewellers director, Matt Powell, who runs the business with his mum and dad, says the company will offer something different for city shoppers.
“We are a family run, independent business, not a faceless chain,” Powell told the local paper. “We are a proper jewellers and goldsmiths. We will not just be a shop, but will have a high-tech workshop as well.
“We will be able to custom make, restore and repair jewellery on site. There is nothing else like this in Peterborough.”
Matt Powell won four accolades at the Goldsmiths Craftsman Design Competition this year – something he believes will separate Crown Jewellers from the other jewellery businesses in town.
Alongside offering repairs, fine jewellery and a bespoke service, Crown Jewellers also stocks a wide range of watches and fashion jewellery brands including ChloBo and Anchor & Crew.
Crown Jewellers has the exclusive rights to ChloBo in Peterborough, which recently welcomed Argento Jewellery to the city as well.
Crown Jewellers is now working hard to make the shop ready for opening.
Powell added: “I will split my time between here and Bourne. The Bourne shop will stay, but now seemed the right time to come to Peterborough and offer something different to the city.”
