Brand’s silver and tourmaline bunny pendant sells for £356.
Kitsch jewellery brand Hillier, creator of playful silver and gold ‘paperclip’ animal-themed jewellery, last week auctioned one of its bestselling bunny necklaces on eBay to raise money for Sport Relief.
The silver and pink tourmaline necklace, designed to look like an unfolded paperclip crafted into the shape of a rabbit, received a total 24 bids, selling for £356.51 on March 25, when the auctioned closed.
The brand wrote on eBay: “Katie Hillier has designed jewellery and handbags for the most respected names in the fashion industry. Her jewellery animal doodles are every bit as playful, charming and glamorous as she is and now she’s giving away her iconic bunny pendant in sterling silver with pink tourmaline – and it can be all yours! Neck illustration doesn’t come better than this.”
Hillier encouraged bids by playing on the charitable cause of the auction. The eventual winning bid was only £6 more than the typical RRP for the necklace. Other designs on the paperclip theme include owls, hedgehogs and sausage dogs.
The brand sold the necklace to raise money for Sport Relief, a branch of Comic Relief, which hosted a night of charity fundraising last Friday. To date, Sport Relief 2012 has raised more than £52 million.
