The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has opened a new screening facility at Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) in BKC, Mumbai.
IGI’s main purpose for launching the facility is to make it more convenient for traders and manufacturers operating from BDB.
Established in 1975, IGI is a well-known gemological training and diamond grading organisation.
Located at Tower FW in the exchange, the sorting and screening facility will serve as a welcome extension of IGI’s existing laboratory services.
At the new facility trade personnel are able to drop parcels off and collect them within the same day once the certification process is complete.
Tehmasp Printer, managing director at IGI India, said: “The goal of the facility at the bourse is to help diamond producers experience a quicker and more efficient certification process with IGI.
“With real-time screening, trade professionals can now have their melee parcels checked for contamination of synthetic diamonds, if any.
“As a trusted independent gemological institute, we are honored to continue to provide these beneficial services for the bustling jewelry industry in Mumbai.”
The facility was inaugurated by Anoop Mehta, president of BDB, Mehul Shah, convener of Bharat Diamond Week and Tehmasp Printer, managing director, IGI – India.
