Watches of Switzerland Group has begun its expansion of stores into Europe with the first store on the continent opening yesterday.
However, the first store is a Breitling monobrand boutique – in Stockholm – and the group has not made any mention of upcoming jewellery stores, instead focusing on watches.
The roll-out, initially concentrated in Scandinavia and the Republic of Ireland, will continue with additional Breitling stores in Stockholm Mall of Scandinavia and Copenhagen, plus an Omega showroom in Copenhagen in September.
“We have a programme of projects primarily focusing on the Nordics and Ireland initially, which will see us open further mono brand Boutiques by the end of 2022,” said Craig Bolton, UK and Europe president of Watches of Switzerland Group.
“We are very excited as we embark on this journey to increase our presence in Europe, and we are actively exploring other territories and opportunities in the marketplace.”
WoSG has also announced the appointment of Gun Falk as retail director for Europe.
She previously spent 12 years at Ralph Lauren as senior director of retail and concession for Paris, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Scandinavia.
“I am delighted to have joined the Watches of Switzerland Group at such an exciting time to help navigate the next phase of the business in the new markets and showcase the best selection of luxury Swiss timepieces to new customers,” she said.
